Global Recycled Standard

The Global Recycled Standard, also known as GRS, is an international and voluntary certification standard for products made with recycled materials.

GRS sets requirements for recycled content, traceability, social and environmental practices, and chemical restrictions throughout the supply chain. This means that certified products are checked by an independent third party to verify that the recycled materials can be traced from the source to the final product.

Understatement is certified to the Global Recycled Standard by Control Union Certifications B.V. Products that are certified according to GRS are clearly marked on the relevant product pages or on the product hangtag.

What does GRS help verify?

Recycled content
GRS helps verify that recycled materials are used in the product.

Traceability
The recycled material is documented through the supply chain, from raw material to finished product.

Environmental and chemical requirements
GRS includes requirements related to environmental practices and chemical restrictions during production.

Social responsibility
The standard also includes requirements connected to working conditions and social responsibility in the supply chain.
